From Orkut to One More Class: Why I Started This Classroom
By Rahul Vithala · 2026-10-05
In 2008, my evenings looked very different from a student's evenings today. There was no Instagram, no reels and no "learn SEO in ten minutes" videos. There was Orkut — and I was hooked.
I spent hours building and maintaining tech communities there. Members asked questions, I hunted for answers, and slowly I realised something: I enjoyed explaining things. A community post became a long reply, a long reply became a habit, and that habit became blogging.
Learning with no map
Starting a blog in 2008 was exciting, but it was also lonely. There were no online courses for beginners. YouTube was still young and barely had any tutorial videos. Search results were full of half-answers, and there was nobody around me who could say, "Do this first, skip that."
So I learned the slow way. I wrote posts that nobody read. I changed titles again and again just to see what happened in search. I experimented, failed and tried again. Content writing, SEO and digital marketing — I picked up each one through trial and error and a lot of late nights, without a course, a mentor or anyone to guide me.
Looking back, those years taught me two things. First, these skills can be learned by anyone who is curious and consistent. Second, nobody should have to spend years figuring out what a good teacher could explain in an afternoon.
Why students need direction today
Today the problem has flipped. Students don't lack information — they are drowning in it. There are thousands of videos, courses and "gurus", and many of them contradict each other. Plenty of students have watched dozens of tutorials and still can't answer one simple question: where is my career heading?
Should you learn SEO or design? Is content writing still worth it with AI around? Do you need a marketing degree to get a job? These are the questions I wish someone had answered for me. They deserve honest, practical answers — not hype.
What One More Class is
One More Class is the classroom I wished I had in 2008. It is a place where I will share what I have learned over the years — content writing, SEO, digital marketing and building an online presence — in plain language, step by step, for everyone.
Here is what you can expect:
- Clear starting points. New here? Begin with the digital marketing career guide to see the different paths and what each one needs.
- Practical courses. The free 15-day affiliate marketing course takes you from zero to your first real project — in English, Hindi, Telugu or Kannada.
- Honest guidance. No income promises and no shortcuts that get you banned. Just skills that last.
- Simple explanations. Stuck on a term? The glossary explains marketing jargon in everyday words.
One more class, one step closer
You don't need to know everything to begin. I didn't. I started with an Orkut community and a lot of curiosity. What you need is direction, practice and someone who has already walked the road ahead of you.
That is what I want to be for you. Take one more class. Then another. Your career will thank you.
